The social event is one of the things we’re always looking forward to at EngageU! It’s a great time to get to know new people or catch up with old acquaintances.
Please note that the social event is not included in the standard conference ticket, but is an add-on. If you didn’t purchase the ticket while signing up, please contact us and if there are still seats available we’ll add you and send a payment link.
The venue
This year we’ll be at Antwerpse Brouw Compagnie, located a bit to the north-east of the hotel, in the Noorderpershuis. The brewery was founded with the mission to revive Seefbier, a historic beer whose recipe was lost for a long time. Founder Johan Van Dyck, after years searching for the lost recipe, finally succeeded in rediscovering it and with the help of a successful crowdfunding campaign, the brewery opened its doors in 2017.
Today, they have not only given the city its signature beer back but have also become an award-winning symbol of how ancient tradition can meet modern innovation.
The evening
We will start off the social event with a short introduction to the brewery’s story and heritage, and for those interested, it will be possible to get a guided tour and see the brewing process up close.
Grab a beer or two, walk around and find someone to talk to. Then go outside to the biergarten and grab something to eat from “The Skinny Chef” by the BBQ pit.
How to get there
Walk
According to Google Maps, it is about a 2.5km walk from Hilton Antwerp Old Town to the brewery. If the weather is good, this is a really good way to stretch those legs after a day of travelling or if you attended the pre-conference training. On the way, you will pass Museum aan de Stroom, which on its own is an interesting view!

Bike
Antwerp is a really biker friendly city, making it a great and quicker alternative to walking! Velo and Donkey Republic offers easy and affordable bike rentals via their apps. Velo also has stations available where you can by a day pass if you don’t want to use the app.

Public transport
Public transport could be scarce on Sunday evening, but you might be able to catch a bus or a tram part of the way at least. We recommend you to check available options by using the route planner at De Lijn, going from Hilton-Antwerp Old Town (Groenplaats 32) to Seefbier Taproom & Beergarten (Indiëstraat 21).

Taxi
This is probably the easiest and most comfortable way of getting there. There are multiple taxi companies in town as well as Uber and Bolt. If you’re a group of people, you might get away quite cheap as well!
