MrWatson (Russell Watson) is a British FileMaker developer, software architect and creator of the fmWorkMate suite of developer tools. For over three decades he has specialised in building large-scale FileMaker solutions, developer productivity tools and deployment systems that help teams analyse, transform and maintain complex applications.

His current work focuses on bringing modern software engineering techniques—including AI-assisted development, automated testing, text-first programming and code transformation—to the FileMaker platform. He is the creator of fmIDE, fmJAML and numerous open-source projects that explore new ways of writing, analysing and generating FileMaker code.

MrWatson is a regular speaker at FileMaker developer conferences, where he enjoys sharing practical ideas that make development faster, safer and, above all, more enjoyable. His philosophy is simple:
